Encouraging employees to give back to the community has many benefits. Volunteering not only benefits the community and employees involved, but it also produces positive elements for the business.

Companies are starting volunteer programs. It is a way of showing the community that a company is dedicated to the area. It could be time helping build up better area housing, providing assistance to schools or beautifying the community’s landscapes, as some examples. Companies realize it is part of their responsibly as community members to provide a service to the community. The volunteer activity could be chosen by the group or already set up by the company or employer.

There are companies that provide opportunities once a week or once a month. This gives employees time to schedule when they would like to be involved with a volunteer program. There are also times throughout the year when employees work on a continual project. Sometimes there are a variety of options giving volunteers more choices.

Business volunteerism includes the entire company from employees to shareholders. Often they work alongside community members. Employees benefit by getting involved in the community while also producing better teamwork, enjoying work satisfaction, feeling good about their own personal involvement and creating better employee communication. The business benefits because employees are working better together, the business reputation improves in the community, employees are enjoying their jobs allowing them to be hardworking and customers become more loyal. Then the community is benefiting by having more volunteers to help in the community, community needs are met and everyone is getting to know one another.
